The government bodies,
like for example Italy's Istituto Superiore di Sanità, operators
and means of information has focused its attention on the metal
tab that, on the stay on tab opening systeme is folded back inside
the tin, as the only possible carrier of contaminating substances.
The metal tab, as a possible source of pollutants in tinned beverages,
is only a marginal aspect of the issue and not the entire problem
or one of the most significant aspects of it. |

has been verified in the research done is that pollutants that
may be deposited on container lids move towards the outer edge of
the circular cover, around the rim, and accumulate there. These may
therefore be present not only on the metal tab but to a greater extent,
both in terms of probability and quantity, on the fixed part of the
cover and its rim. |
